Warhorse Studios
brand identity use

Graphic design/Branding

About
Warhorse is a kind of a dream for me, as the company is basically revered in Czech republic for their AAA meddieval RPG game "Kingdom Come - Deliverance". I would not be happier if you told me, I will be working on Witcher for CD Project Red.

Challenge
The studio already had a new clean logo, but they needed to finalize usage. While being a gamming studio, it employees often misused logo or other elements when creating social post or in other cases. Also, we needed to choose new typeface, one that could be legible and modern in both serif and sans-serif, but still maintain the "hand made feel", since that is on of the trademarks or Warhorse.

Solution
From business cards and choice of fonts to email signatures and mugs, I worked on a packege to be used as a base of branding guide. First we defined all the possible used of logo, how does it behave agains certain types of background etc,. The issue is that logo was derived from a sculpture of a horse head and very clearly works with light and shadow to define shapes. If you simply invert colors, the logo does not work. To work around this issue, there is a clean version and version set inside of "shield" shape.

Typeface was by far most challenging, while you would see Garamond Premier bellow on some of my older mockups, the final choice was "Janon" by czech foundry "Stormtype". I do not kid you when I say, that we went through almost all the font classes possible to narrow the choices for a very specific type of font to be used :).
